During 2013 the Trott Park Neighbourhood Art Class was asked to design and produce a mural to be placed in the area under the new wood oven. The project was funded by the City of Marion Council which administers the Centre.
The background and lollipop trees are based on an art lesson the children did in the style of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The children also added things that represented the area.
The project took several months and involved many children and their parents. I must mention Tony, whose idea it was to make it a community project and acknowledge the many hours he contributed, sourcing weather hardy paint and cutting out the various shapes that were glued to the background such as the trees and animals.
This was a wonderful opportunity for the class to collaborate on the design and production of a large scale artwork which is now being enjoyed by the community.
